I came in contact with this novel during my junior year in high school, at Calipatria High. This novel was our last book assigned for the year, by our English teacher Mrs. Vellas. The book was about the Holocaust in the author's point of view. Elie explains his experience of the Holocaust with his father, he was also sixteen during the time of this story. I really remember this book because of the way Elie describes the sights seen, and shows us how he survived that gruesome nightmare. Him being forced to work with the others who were fit enough to work, and the heart dropping descriptions of people perishing in their own hell. Reading this made me question how someone can treat another human being like that, even till this day.
